This short used a lot of clips from The Incredible Hulk including the bar scene at the end, so since I already recorded those, I’m not including them here. However, Phil Coulson and Jasper Sitwell as they are discussing what occurred between General Ross and Tony Stark, they do reference the bar
A lot is happening to get this short to come together. First of all, the setting is in the diner at Puente Antiguo 50 miles east of where Thor’s hammer fell to Earth. In the day scene you can see the desert through the window, and we know Coulson had to high-tail it out to New Mexico to investigate the hammer’s arrival, so it’s in New Mexico.
While Coulson was traveling, Nick Fury put Tony Stark on a retainer to act as a consultant for SHIELD near the end of Iron Man 2. Once that was secured, Coulson had to be informed so that he knew that Stark was an asset and Jasper Sitwell had to know as well for the scene to work. This also had to likely have been shortly after Hammer Industries had their exposition that Vanko hijacked. Stark would have been on a plane right after that event to talk to General Ross about Blonski in the bar scene at the end of The Incredible Hulk.
This one scene ties all three movies, Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor, together and sets up how SHIELD can bring together the Avengers…and there is only coffee drinking in this short.
