So where did the Champagne come from? Well, the earliest version of this that I've found comes from a guide from 1933, "Hollywood Cocktails," purporting to be favorites of the stars.https://t.co/SwhHPHUbN0 pic.twitter.com/qws0WZavRp— Libation Legacy (@LibationLegacy) June 6, 2020

One thing I noticed regarding the history of the 75 Cocktail is that I've heard people say that when Robert Vermeire first published the recipe in '22, he attributed the drink to Harry McElhone, of Harry's New York Bar. But this is problematic.— Libation Legacy (@LibationLegacy) June 7, 2020

I don't believe there is any connection between the 75 Cocktail popular in France in the '20s and the French 75 most likely invented in the US. And all the pre-WWII versions call for gin. When did the Cognac version become popular? https://t.co/QiGc9aYiIm— Libation Legacy (@LibationLegacy) June 6, 2020

Pour cost between my options is about 2.5:1. The Gordon's version is just fine, acceptable. The Rabbithole version is really enjoyable at 2.5x the cost. There's more going on; it tastes more expensive. If I'm buying one for brunch I'd pay 2x more for it vs rail gin. pic.twitter.com/kSvCUBhCgp— Alamagoozlum (@Alamagoozlum) June 7, 2020
